In the LED lighting industry, L70 is a metric that defines the useful lifetime of an LED product. It refers to the number of operating hours until the LED’s light output (luminous flux) has decreased to 70% of its initial value.
For example:
If a product is rated L70 = 50,000 hours, it means that after 50,000 hours of use, the LED is expected to produce 70% of the light it emitted when new.
Why 70%?
Because the human eye typically does not notice gradual reductions in brightness until the loss reaches around 30%, That has become the industry standard benchmark for end-of-life in LEDs.
If the L70 of an LED lights is greater than 50,000 hours, it can bring you better energy saving and economic benefits.
